FIFA 22 cross-play test announced for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia
EA has announced that cross-platform play is finally coming to FIFA 22.
The cross-play test will allow players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia to play against each other in Online Seasons and Online Friendlies. Players who do not wish to take part can disable cross-platform play through a widget in the bottom right-hand corner of the main menu or by visiting the Matchmaking Options Settings screen.
The test is limited to just Online Seasons and Online Friendlies to reduce the chance of introducing new issues to the game, according to EA. “We are confident that the game data and feedback that we get from these two modes will help inform how Cross-play could further be implemented in future titles,” the publisher added.
Players who wish to play with a friend on another platform will need to add their friend using the in-game widget mentioned above. Players can search for their friends by their platform or EA username and then invite them to a game.
The cross-play test is scheduled to begin “in the near future,” according to EA.
