Dying Light’s next DLC based on Techland’s unreleased Hellraid
We’re still waiting to find out when Dying Light 2 is launching, but developer Techland isn’t leaving us totally high and dry. In fact, it’s recently teased DLC for the still-active original Dying Light, and it’s actually a callback to yet another game that never got a release date.
According to a recent blog post, Dying Light‘s next (and possibly final, though who knows anymore) DLC is called Hellraid, and if that sounds familiar, that’s because it was the title for a game that Techland had unveiled back at E3 2013. Based on that game, the Dying Light: Hellraid will let you hack and slash your way through a dungeon map that’s literally set in Hell solo or with a friend.
The setup for the DLC is appropriately meta: Survivors find an arcade machine in the Tower’s basement and move it upstairs, only to get their souls trapped in the game, which is hell, or something like that. Considering the DLC is based on a dead game, getting sucked into a cursed arcade machine seems about right.
Dying Light: Hellraid is launching this summer for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. If you want to get an idea of what the gameplay might look like, you should check out the nearly seven-year-old E3 gameplay trailer for the original Hellraid.
