Dead Space remake release date revealed alongside new developer video

EA and Motive have confirmed that the upcoming remake of Dead Space will officially launch on January 27th, 2023.

The remake of the sci-fi survival horror game is being rebuilt from the ground up using the Frostbite engine. According to publisher EA, Dead Space‘s remake will remain true to the original game’s vision with enhanced visuals and audio and “a new level of immersion and quality.”

In addition to confirming the release date, developer Motive hosted a new livestream that focuses on the art of the remake. The video below offers a look at the remake’s improved visual effects, including updates to fog, smoke, and pyrotechnics, as well as the improvements made to character models and lighting. At the end of the video, Motive shared a gameplay walkthrough of the engine room area that shows how all of these improvements come together in the remake.

“Developing this remake has been a lot of fun for us at Motive, as we’re true fans of the franchise and want to treat it with the respect it deserves. It’s been equally exciting to see players’ reactions as we’re taking them on this development journey with us,” Phillippe Ducharme, Senior Producer of Dead Space, said. “We’re making great progress on our road to hitting Alpha and we’re happy to announce that the game will be launching in January next year. We can’t wait for players, both old and new, to see how we’ve elevated the original experience in the remake to be just as impactful for this generation.”

Dead Space is scheduled to launch on January 27th, 2023, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
