Crysis Remastered delayed following response to trailer leak

Update: Just one hour before the scheduled Crysis Remastered gameplay reveal and three weeks before its intended release, developer Crytek has announced it will delaying both the trailer and the game itself to add additional polish.

“Your passion for the Crysis franchise deserves an undeniably high-quality game, and we are committed to deliver just that. To ensure that we meet that commitment, we will need to delay the launch date (all platforms) and trailer premiere by a few weeks,” reads a statement posted to the Crysis Twitter account. “This extra time until release will allow us to get Crysis Remastered up to the PC- and console-breaking standard you’ve come to expect from Crysis games.”

The statement specifically mentions the recent leak and “all the reactions—good and bad.” Given the last-minute nature of the delay, it would seem that the negative reactions played a bigger role in this decision. At time of writing, some of the highest rated comments on one YouTube upload of the leak say, “Looks like original Crysis but with the lowest settings,” “Big disappointment,” and “It looks like crisis on medium settings?”

Crysis Remastered will now arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC later this summer.

Original story: An early listing on the Microsoft Store has outed the release date and gameplay trailer for the upcoming Crysis Remastered.

Crytek’s refresh of the classic 2007 first-person shooter will apparently arrive on July 23rd, according to the store page. Unless there’s some sort of timed exclusivity, that release date should also apply to the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC versions of the game, as well.

As for the gameplay footage, it appears to have been scrubbed from official Xbox channels, but it’s been ripped and reuploaded, so you can take a gander now if you so wish.

Crysis Remastered‘s official gameplay reveal is scheduled for July 1st at 9 a.m. PT, though it’s not clear how much more we’ll get beyond the leaked trailer. You’ll be able to watch it on YouTube.
