CD Projekt Red gives new details on how Cyberpunk 2077 will move to next-gen
If you’re looking to play CD Projekt Red’s upcoming cyber-future epic Cyberpunk 2077 but can’t wait for the next-gen systems to do so, don’t worry—current generation versions of the game will see numerous benefits once you finally make the jump.
While we knew at least part of this already, the studio has confirmed that no matter which current-get version of the game you buy—either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One—that copy will be fully playable on it next-generation sibling once the new consoles arrive.
However, while the PS4 version of Cyberpunk 2077 will be playable on PlayStation 5, and the Xbox One version playable on Xbox Series X, simply playing the same game on new hardware isn’t all you’ll get. During the studio’s recent conference call centered around the delay of the game, the team also revealed that the current-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 will look and play better on next-gen consoles from day one.
Then, beyond that, CD Projekt Red is working on proper PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game that will take “full advantage of the next-gen hardware.” For anyone who has already purchased PS4 or Xbox One copies of the game, you’ll then receive a free upgrade to the appropriate next-gen release.
