Borderlands 3’s Proving Grounds and Circle of Slaughter modes detailed
During Gamescom, Gearbox Software shared the first details about Borderlands 3’s endgame content, which includes the return of the Circle of Slaughter and a new mode called Proving Grounds.
Circle of Slaughter arenas are sponsored by weapons manufacturer Torgue and require players to survive multiple waves of enemies across five rounds to win the big payout. Dying during a Circle of Slaughter will end of the round and forfeit all rewards.
“All the while, your delicate ears will be graced by the expletive-filled hollering of Mister Torgue himself, who provides some extremely colorful commentary and doesn’t tolerate failure,” the developer added in a blog post. “If you’re hoping to impress Mister Torgue and his impossibly massive pecs, you can show off some flair by completing bonus objectives like racking up kills via melee attacks, ground slams, or—if you really want to pander to your target audience—grenades. EXPLOSIONS!”
Later in the game, players will unlock the Proving Grounds. These themed gauntlets task players with blasting their way through three areas full of enemies and a boss within the time limit. The quicker players complete the Proving Grounds, the better their reward will be. Bonus objectives are also available, such as not dying or eliminating the Fallen Guardian, that will further increase the rewards on offer.
Borderlands 3 launches September 13th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
