Borderlands 3 hotfix nerfs Ion Cannon, increases Anointment effectiveness
Gearbox Software has released a new hotfix for Borderlands 3 that kicks off two events, nerfs the Ion Cannon, and makes adjustments to Anointments.
To start with, until January 30th, the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite scaling event and Farming Frenzy mini-event are now live. The former adjusts the difficulty of the Blacksite to the number of players in the group, while the latter increases the drop rate of legendary loot and chance for Rare Spawns to appear.
In addition to kicking off the above events, this latest hotfix slightly nerfs the Ion Cannon by increasing its reload time to five seconds and making it consume at least six ammo per shot.
“The Ion Cannon is a strong weapon and we don’t want to change that, but it’s a little over performing,” the developer explained. “We’ve increased the reload time and made it consume more ammo but left its damage unchanged to still provide a strong burst of damage.”
Finally, the effectiveness of Anointments for Moze, Zane, and FL4K have been increased. A few examples include a boost to 75 percent from 20 percent to bonus incendiary damage when Moze’s Auto Bear is active and an increase to nova damage when FL4K exists Fade Away.
