Battlefield 2042 reveals new content coming with Season 2
Battlefield 2042 has revealed all of the new content coming with Season 2, which includes a new map, a new Specialist, new vehicles, and three new weapons.
The new map is called Stranded. Taking place in a dried-up lake bed in the Panama Canal, its focal point is a beached cargo ship that normally functions as an underground arms market. The interior focuses on intense, close-quarters infantry combat, while the surrounding points give vehicle players something to do. The top of the cargo ship can open for choppers and parachuting players to enter the arena. It also appears that Stranded will feature extreme weather, which the latest DLC map, Exposure, did not do.
Crawford is the Battlefield 2042‘s new Specialist. An arms dealer, Crawford’s special gadget is a mounted, shielded Vulcan turret that anyone can use. As a support Specialist, he can revive teammates; doing so reloads their gadgets.
Season 2 will introduce three new weapons: the AM40 assault rifle, the Avancys LMG, and the PF51 sidearm. The AM40 can function as both an assault weapon and an SMG, the Avancys focuses on laying down suppressive fire, and the PF51’s large magazine complements its automatic fire mode. The concussive grenade is the new throwable gadget, bringing flashbangs back to the series.
On top of these new weapons, Battlefield 2042 will start to introduce Portal weapons into All-Out Warfare as Vault Weapons. Players can complete assignments to unlock the M16A3 and M60E4 from Battlefield 3. DICE stated that it plans to add more Vault weapons throughout Season 2. Portal itself will also get a few more weapons from Battlefield 3, Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 1942.
The new vehicles coming with Season 2 include the EPLC Ram, a four-seater with a large arsenal and the ability to drop a tactical beacon that the team can spawn on, and a Polaris buggy. The latter will come with the first update of the season and functions as an environmental transport vehicle.
Battlefield 2042 Season 2 launches on August 30th, bringing with it a new 100-tier battle pass. Players will be able to unlock gameplay items like Crawford, the weapons, and the vehicles for free.
Battlefield 2042 is available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
