Apex Legends update makes changes to Bloodhound, Pathfinder, and Wraith
Apex Legends’ latest update includes cross-platform play, a new Collection Event, balance changes, and more.
Following today’s update, players on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC can now join parties and drop into a match together. As for matchmaking, players on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will be placed in the same pool, with PC players remaining separate. Console players will only be matched with PC players if they are in a squad with someone on PC. Cross-platform play can be disabled from the options menu.
Joining the cross-play beta is the Aftermarket Collection Event. The event introduces the Flashpoint limited-time mode, 24 new cosmetic items to collect, Caustic’s Death Hammer Heirloom, and a new challenge track.
In addition to the above, balance adjustments have been made to several Legends and weapons. A few examples include a change to Wraith’s sprint animation, an increase in the hipfire spread of the Devotion and Spitfire, and an adjustment to Pathfinder’s grapple to make the cooldown based on the travel distance.
“Instead of dropping grapple cooldown back to 15s where it was before, or moving it to 25s as a compromise, we considered a player suggestion (thanks Reddit) to have the Grapple drain energy as it goes, similar to Titanfall 2,” the developer explained. “The difference here is we’re looking at your full distance traveled: from the moment you leave the ground to when you’re on the ground again and not sliding at crazy high speeds.”
