Amazon announces new Montreal studio, led by former Rainbow Six Siege devs
Amazon has announced that it’s opening a new studio in Montreal, Canada, led by former Rainbow Six Siege developers.
Xavier Marquis, Luc Bouchard, Alexandre Rémy, and Romain Rimokh will serve as the four founders of the studio. All four played pivotal roles in Siege‘s development—notably Marquis, who was Siege‘s creative director, and Rimokh, Siege‘s narrative director. Marquis will serve as creative director at the new studio.
Marquis stated that the team is “excited to start with a blank page and the creative freedom to create a completely unique experience in the multiplayer space.”
The game coming out of Amazon’s Montreal studio won’t be the company’s first multiplayer venture. Its first game, Crucible, was a free-to-play multiplayer shooter. Unfortunately, Amazon put that game back into closed beta after just two months on the market and eventually cancelled its development. Its next game, New World, is scheduled to launch in August.
