Streamlined Xbox One Home interface launching next month
Microsoft has announced that it is has started rolling out the “new, streamlined Xbox One Home interface” to all Insiders ahead of the public release in February.
“Starting last week, Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha rings began to see a few new features we’ve been working on light up across their Xbox One consoles, with additional experiences set to roll out over this week to all our Insiders,” Microsoft wrote.
This new Xbox One Home experience removes the “Twists” from the top of the dashboard and replaces them with dedicated rows for Game Pass, Mixer, Xbox Community, and the Microsoft Store.
There are also additional ways to organize games and apps with the introduction of content groups, labels for trials and demos, and a “streamlined settings experience.”
Other changes include support for images and animated GIFs in conversations and the ability to choose where notifications appear from one of six locations. In addition, individual games bundled in Xbox Game Pass can now be installed individually, such as Shenmue I & II.
Finally, Microsoft has introduced a “move” option for users with external storage attached to their console. This option will give players the choice to either move or remove items to free up space when the primary hard drive is full.
