Overwatch adding Experimental Card and Hero Pools
Blizzard has revealed a couple of new features that it will be adding to Overwatch in February.
First up is the introduction of an Experimental Card that will occasionally appear on the main menu alongside the game’s main modes. Blizzard will use this new feature to test major changes to the game, such as balance updates, new game modes, and rule changes. The Experimental Card will be available on both PC and consoles.
Game director Jeff Kaplan made sure to make players aware that just because something is being tested using the Experimental Card instead of the PTR, doesn’t mean that it will make it to the live game.
Also arriving next month is the Hero Pools feature. This new system is scheduled to go live alongside Competitive Season 21 and will limit players to a selection of heroes in Competitive Play. The pool of available heroes will be curated by the design team each week to help keep the meta fresh. Hero Pools will be exclusive to Competitive Play.
Other changes in the works for the game include anti-cheat improvements, Workshop adjustments, and more frequent balance updates.
Overwatch is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
