Fortnite’s B.R.U.T.E. has been nerfed
Epic has finally decided to nerf Fortnite’s controversial mechs.
In a blog post, the developer shared a number of balance adjustments that it has pushed live to reduce the power of the B.R.U.T.E. and give players a better chance to counter it.
According to the patch notes, the B.R.U.T.E. now only fires six rockets instead of 10, fires rockets 56 percent slower, has an increased dash cooldown, and no longer grants materials to the driver or passengers when destroying objects.
“Our goal with these changes is to increase the back and forth between the users of the B.R.U.T.E. and the players they face,” Epic explained. “These changes allow the players on the receiving end of the missile volley to have more time to react and protect themselves.”
To help balance things out a little, the update has also increased the health of the B.R.U.T.E. to 1250 and reduced the materials required to use the overshield to 75. According to Epic, these slight buffs are designed to give players time to play more strategically.
In addition to the above changes, the update adjusts the spawn rate of the mech in the first three storm phases in all core modes to offer a greater variance in the amount that spawn. Epic notes that the spawn rate in Arena remains unchanged. Read the full patch notes here.
Finally, Epic announced that it has temporarily removed the new Junk Rift item from Arena playlists “due to an audio issue caused when the portal is significantly higher than a player.”
