Overwatch 2’s third and final launch hero leaks
A trailer leak has spilled the beans on Overwatch 2‘s final unannounced launch hero.
YouTuber Kuriboh cervantes uploaded what appears to be an unfinished Spanish-language version of the trailer, showing a woman named Kiriko in fox-themed attire doing battle against Overwatch’s Japanese crime syndicate, the Hashimoto clan. The video has since been taken offline—no duh—but some screencaps still exist thanks to Twitter user OverwatchNaeri, so if you act fast you can still catch a glimpse of her design.
Kiriko—judging by her name, outfit, and the context of the trailer—is almost certainly another Japanese hero. Her kit is a bit of a mystery, but she seems to have access to knives and healing powers, as will as the ability to summon magical torii gates that buff her and her allies. That all lines up with Blizzard’s previous comments that the third new launch character would be a support-class hero. It also fits an encrypted message the studio sent out to beta participants in July, which translated to “What does the fox say.”
Her name also matches a quasi-official leak from earlier in the week, when fans spotted an update (since reverted) to promotional text for the Watchpoint Pack version of Overwatch 2. That first leak prompted concern from the community that players would need to pay for battle passes to unlock new heroes in the free-to-play shooter, prompting an official response from Blizzard.
Overwatch 2 launches into early access on October 4th for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
