The Jackbox Party Pack 9 introduces ability to kick players
Jackbox Games has revealed that The Jackbox Party Pack 9 players will finally be able to kick any unwanted guests from their rooms.
“You submitted tickets, you sent us DMs, you told us at conventions… You need the ability to kick players from the game. Especially when you’re livestreaming,” the developer wrote in a blog post. “For the past few years, we’ve been working to make it happen and we’ve finally landed on a solution that creates the most seamless experience for hosts and players.”
Kicking players is done via the mod.jackbox.tv. moderation tool. Using this, someone in the moderator role can select players to be removed and also deny access to rejoin. However, kicking players is for a specific room, so if a new room is created, the kicked player can rejoin.
“If the game has already started, we want to preserve any progress made in the game and make sure the experience is still enjoyable for everyone,” Jackbox Games added. “This means moderators will only be allowed to kick players when the game is above the minimum player count and kicked players will remain in the game visually, but are disconnected and unable to rejoin or submit any new content.”
In addition to kicking players, this latest entry in the series introduces the option to sign in using a QR code and a “pause” to give the host time to reconnect before ending the game.
The Jackbox Party Pack 9 launches this fall on “major digital platforms.”
