Here are your free PlayStation Plus games for December
With the coming of a new month means the coming (soon) of a new batch of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Unfortunately, with this latest list, we’ll have to be a bit more Grinch than Santa.
On December 7th, PS+ subscribers will get access to Godfall: Challenger Edition on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, along with Mortal Shell and LEGO DC Super-Villains on PS4.
So what’s the problem? Well, that “Challenger Edition” of Godfall is completely missing the game’s campaign. Instead, players will have boosted characters that are “immediately equipped with a spread of deadly weapons and skill points” to handle the game’s three modes, “Lightbringer, Dreamstones, and the Ascended Tower of Trials.” Basically, the main story portion of the game has been chopped out, and we’re getting sent straight to the endgame content. Which, you know, is a little weird.
The other bummer is Mortal Shell. Not the game itself, mind you, as it seems to be a pretty decent Souls-like action adventure experience. No, the problem is that, like a handful of other PS4 games we’ve gotten through PS+, it seems there’s no option for also playing the PS5 version, should you be lucky enough to own one of Sony’s latest consoles. That’s a shame, especially given that Xbox owners current get the full Mortal Shell: Enhanced Edition through Game Pass.
Oh, and don’t forget that three bonus PlayStation VR games—The Persistence, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Standard Edition, and Until You Fall—are still also available through January 3rd.
