Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 includes The Sideways, Carnage, Cubes, and more
Fortnite Chapter 2‘s eighth season is now underway on all platforms, Epic Games has announced.
Following the events of the Season 7 finale, the Cubes that powered the Mothership have been freed and have taken over the island. Now players need to play their part in the war against the Cubes and put a stop to the spreading corruption.
Due to the Cubes’ presence, a new monster-filled reality known as “The Sideways” has manifested. Each match, a different location will be ensnared by the Sideways, and Sideways Anomalies will spawn around the map. In The Sideways, low gravity is in effect, building isn’t allowed, and players will need to defeat waves of Cube Monsters for weapons and special crafting materials.
By defeating these monsters, players can obtain Sideways Weapons, including the Sideways Rifle and Sideways Minigun, which deal bonus damage when revved up. Players can use the Cube Monster Parts that are dropped to upgrade these weapons.
The war against the Cubes is also forcing players to work together by donating bars at construction sites to build Turret Stations. Later in the season, the War Effort will allow players to choose new weapons to develop, which weapon to unvault, and more.
Finally, a new season means a new Battle Pass. The Chapter 2 Season 8 pass includes Torin, the customizable Toona Fish, Kor, Marvel’s Carnage, and a mysterious secret Battle Pass skin, as well as V-Bucks, new gliders, new pickaxes, and much more.
Fortnite is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile.
