Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction gets full reveal, release date
Ubisoft has fully revealed the long-awaited co-op spin-off of Rainbow Six Siege during its E3 Ubisoft Forward stream. Now officially called Rainbow Six Extraction, the one- to -three-player co-op game will feature familiar operators engaging in battles against extraterrestrial enemies.
The two trailers Ubisoft debuted today bring plenty of new details about the threat you’re facing: Alien parasite enemies called Archæans. The “Archies” come in different varieties with their own abilities. There are Breachers, which explode, Spikers, which fire out long-range attacks, shape-shifting Tormentors, and the powerful Apex.
The full gameplay walkthrough includes a more in-depth look at many of the REACT gadgets you’ll have at your disposal to fight off the enemy, as well as offering a feel for the overall flow of a mission. The game seems to prioritize stealth, at least on first approach, with the ideal being to get in, get your target, and get out without bringing down a horde of enemies on you.
Extraction also appears to include some interesting roguelike elements, where players can—at least temporarily—lose their progression if they fail during a mission. Operators who fall during a mission will be unavailable to play until they’re rescued, which means there are serious consequences if things go pear-shaped.
Excitingly, Extraction will also support cross-platform multiplayer between all systems, so you’ll be able to play with your friends wherever they are.
Also newly revealed is the release date. Rainbow Six Extraction will launch September 16th, 2021, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Windows PC via the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store, and Google Stadia.
