Metro Exodus will run at 60 FPS with ray tracing on Xbox Series X/S and PS5
Deep Silver and 4A Games have outlined the changes being made to Metro Exodus for its Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 upgrade.
To start with, all three current-gen consoles will support full ray tracing thanks to “an all-new Fully Ray Traced Lighting Pipeline.” In addition, the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 versions will run at 4K/60 FPS with 4K textures, improved loading times, and support for platform-specific features, such as reduced latency on Series X and haptic feedback on PlayStation 5. The Xbox Series S will run at 1080p/60 FPS with support for ray tracing.
“We have built an all-new Fully Ray Traced Lighting Pipeline that brings a number of optimizations, upgrades, and new features to the Ray Traced Global Illumination and Emissive Lighting that we pioneered with the original release of Metro Exodus, as well as an upgraded implementation of our powerful Temporal Reconstruction technology to further boost resolution, visual detail and performance,” developer 4A Games added in a blog post.
Players can also expect “additional polish and quality of life enhancements,” including the introduction of an FOV slider.
Finally, 4A Games revealed that it will be releasing an Enhanced Edition of the game for PC this spring. This Enhanced Edition features the upgrades made to ray tracing on consoles, Advanced Ray Tracing Reflections that are exclusive to PC, and support for DLSS 2.0.
The console upgrades and Enhanced Edition on PC will be free to all existing owners of Metro Exodus.
