Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires launching on next-gen, current-gen consoles in 2021
Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is coming to current- and next-gen consoles sometime next year.
Publisher Koei Tecmo made the announcement during the 2021 Tokyo Games Show as part of the series’ 20th anniversary celebration. The game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Empires will focus less on open-world combat and more on siege battles, punctuated by political relationships that players must establish with the other factions in the game.
Between this relationship-building mechanic and the ability to tell your soldiers where to go, Empires sounds like it will be a more strategic take on the series’ familiar hack-and-slash combat. Siege weapons will also play a pivotal role in the gameplay.
Koei Tecmo also announced that a Dynasty Warriors mobile game will be launching in 2021 as well, as part of the series’ 20th anniversary.
