Amazon Australia reveals box art for Demon’s Souls, Sackboy, more PS5 titles
We may not have a release date or price for the PlayStation 5 just yet, but we do now have an idea of what some of its games will look like in their packaging, thanks to Amazon Australia.
While it’s not confirmed that all of these will be the games’ final box art—especially given a few literally say “art not final”—it’s not hard to imagine most of these being the real deal. Destruction AllStars, Returnal, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure especially look very much like the kind of thing you’d expect for the covers of final retail releases.
The one game I’m hung up on is Demon’s Souls. FromSoftware’s Souls games have been known to have very minimalist cover art, focusing more on a single character versus an “exciting” action scene. If you compare what we see here with the original Demon’s Souls cover art, it feels like a night-and-day difference—one that I’m not sure I’m really a fan of.
The cover does, however, remind me of the one other example of FromSoftware teaming up with Sony: Bloodborne. The covers are very similar, right down to the “protagonist looking into the background with their back to the camera” pose.
Again, all of this art could very well just be placeholders until the final covers are finished, so maybe we’ll see a more Demon’s Souls-like Demon’s Souls cover in the end.
Also, quite likely, nobody but me ever cares about this.
